UFV celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2024, and tasked several Design and Media Arts students with creating pieces to showcase what the UFV experience is like.
For my UFV 50th Anniversary Art Pieces, my primary aim was to create illustrations that focus on the lives of the students as the core of our school.
I came up with my concept sketches relatively quickly. I thought of presenting a scene with students sitting in an engaged classroom, as illustrated above; a young student standing before an unfolding multitude of paths at school, unsure yet excited for what may be ahead, as shown to the right; and a focus on how UFV provides services for counseling and help for every student, as shown below.
While there is much I might want to work on to improve my pieces, and I can improve their quality given more time and energy, my focus was to show the mundane, the helpful and the inspiring facets of UFV student life.
In some sense, these pieces reflect my experience as well at UFV.
